PONGAL '20
Marking the Tamil harvest festival in our signature style every year, Pongal marks the beginning of a new year and one of the most significant celebrations of PB-TLA. The event is specifically marked with the native Tamil students and faculties adorning traditional colorful clothes for the festivities. Dr. G. Viswanathan, Founder and Chancellor of our institution along with our guest of honor Yogacharya S. Nilamegame from Reunion Island graced us with his presence making it a grand success this year. He made the traditional dish 'Pongal' in the earthen pot,'Paanai'. The celebrations markedly include a portrayal of the rich culture and heritage of the Tamils. Various traditional dance forms like karagattam, Poi Kaal Kuthirai, Oyilattam, Puli Vesham, etc., and musical beats like Parai attam, Urumi melam, thavil, and nadaswaram, etc., are staged in the Pongal celebrations. Then came the end where our DJ finishes in style. The fast beat rhythms make the audience dance on their toes and the ever so soothing music instills a sense of belonging among the audience and Tamil native speakers.
